Diversity Works New Zealand and the Diversity Agenda have joined forces to accelerate the representation of women in engineering and architecture.
Launched in April this year by Engineering New Zealand, the New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA) and the Association of Consulting Engineers (ACENZ), the Diversity Agenda aims to get 20% more women into these male-dominated professions by 2021.
The partnership with Diversity Works New Zealand will bring targeted unconscious bias training, comprehensive resources and the latest thinking to all Diversity Agenda Founding Partners and Change Makers at a competitive discount.
Engineering New Zealand Chief Executive Susan Freeman-Greene says: “This is fantastic news for all those that have committed to our Diversity Agenda. A partnership with a leading organisation like Diversity Works New Zealand will support our current and future members to foster inclusive workplaces as well as giving access to credible content and research support. This move enables us to continue working full steam ahead on driving tangible change for our communities and for New Zealand.”
Diversity Works New Zealand Chief Executive Rachel Hopkins says of the partnership: “We applaud the energy and initiative behind The Diversity Agenda and their galvanising target. This partnership aligns a fresh initiative around a singular focus with an established national body working across all diversity dimensions. Working together, we can help more engineering and architecture firms do diversity and inclusion well and do well because of it.”
More than 70 engineering and architectural firms have made a commitment to the Diversity Agenda, including industry bodies Electricity Engineers Association and the recently announced Survey and Spatial New Zealand.
Diversity Works New Zealand helps New Zealand organisations do diversity and inclusion well, and do well because of it. As New Zealand’s only national body offering trusted advice across all diversity dimensions, they have been sustained for 26 years by a partnership between employers and government. More than 400 organisations are members, supporting a more inclusive Aotearoa New Zealand.
