Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Equity in Architecture.

Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Equity in Architecture.

posted on 2 December 2020

Watch our recent Diversity Agenda discussion about Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity in architecture.

In this detailed presentation, Ngā Aho member Jade Kake (nō Ngāpuhi ki Whangārei, Te Whakatōhea, Te Arawa) and Ngā Aho Co-Chair Desna Whaanga-Schollum (nō Rongomaiwahine, Ngāti Kahungunu, Pāhauwera) explain the relevance and importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to the architectural profession.

The pair also discuss key issues the profession faces, including the low representation of Māori and BIPOC, cultural considerations and kaupapa Māori approaches to practice.

This presentation is an extension of the column authored by Desna and Jade for Architecture Now’s Our Aotearoa series: Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity in architecture.

If you’re interested in hosting an online event, please get in touch – we’d love opportunity to share your diversity and inclusion knowledge with our members.
